Honolulu Vacations – Whatever is the Time of the Year
When
it comes to the near perfect combination of the sea, the sand, and the sun, the
capital of Hawaii, Honolulu, is head and shoulders on top of everyplace else.
Consider yourself lucky if you have one of those Honolulu vacations.
In
Honolulu, one of the most satisfying vacations anyone can have is a visit to
that place that’s utterly out of this world. If you love all three (the sea,
the sun, the sand) Honolulu is a paradise for tourists.
Every
other kind will get his fill in this city – sail enthusiasts, surfers, snorkelers
and divers, fans of history, and all kinds of shoppers (curio items seekers,
high-end fashion moles, backpackers) and a bunch more.
Exploring areas
Your
vacation is not worth it if you haven’t tried exploring busy downtown areas.
(The most famous is the noted Waikiki Beach Walk where you get to meet all
kinds of people from around the world, exploring the very interesting sidelights
of the city and its Polynesian culture.
It
can take you days to explore most parts of the city. The fun and the excitement
strike the tourist seeing that everything are side by side, notwithstanding the
culture and the tradition as well as being cosmopolitan about it. (There are
shops that rivals the latest offering fashion capital Rome and Paris< even
those from Madrid.)
Attractions
Like
any other city, Honolulu is a multi-mixture of culture, traditions, and skin
colors. Another very important thing is that it is an American city, as an
apple pie. Boomers and most modern Americans never forget to visit their famous
Pearl Harbor (and the USS Arizona Memorial) where bitter history happened.
A
bit further is the famous crater Diamond Head (a setting for a movie), the
Bishop Museum and the revered Iolani Palace. Of course, they will always have
the Waikiki Beach. Soak in the images you see at the Nu’uanuPali Lookout.
(Better still, get some souvenir pictures of the place.)
They
also have their Chinatown should you want to dabble in authentic Chinese
cuisine. (The American and Polynesian dishes are all over the place, and so are
the other exotic foods from around the world.)
There
are also some festivals and sporting events to look forward to. (The Honolulu
Marathon happens every December. In January, the big Sony Open golf tournament
is held.
The
Honolulu Festival in March celebrates the cultural understanding with parades,
fireworks displays, dances and much more. The Joy of Sake is celebrated in
July, if you want some tipsy good time.
Planning
It
might be a bit difficult in customizing your vacation in Honolulu for the
simple reason that you have so much on your agenda. Honolulu and Waikiki are
the first things that come to mind when planning to land on Oahu as your main
destination.
There
is not much to lose in any case. You can watch right away from your hotel the
graceful surfers doing their graceful water acrobats on top of their
surfboards. You cannot miss out on Honolulu vacations whatever is the time of
year.
