Beach Vacations – Natural Health Spa

From islanders themselves, there is an unconfirmed belief that island people seldom get sick, if at all. It is believed the fresh air, the invigorating sea and the sun makes a great combination is getting people living in beach fronts healthy.  beach vacations can get you healthy without your knowing it.

It might be only now that experts may have finally discovered some truth to these health benefits one gets on the beach.

Immune system boost

For centuries, doctors have been prescribing trips to the ocean for people that are ill. And since that time, cure had been mostly attributed to the combined general effects of the ocean front, the sun and the air. These days, doctors and researchers have discovered some truth into it.

The plentiful sunlight in beaches gives you Vitamin D which is a big help in preventing autoimmune disease. The sea water itself also has several mineral compounds that helps boost your immune system and helps rid the body of toxins.

Seawater and air

Seawater helps heal cuts faster (it stings, though) and can even stop runny nose. In the Philippines, newly-circumcised village boys run to bathe in the sea right after the ritual to heal them faster and never worry about infection.  The sea water has iodine that also helps boost immune system.

The air at the beach is full of negative ions, a proven booster of your immune system and helps balance your serotonin levels of the body. This improves your mood and reduces stress levels. No wonder simply walking along the beach gives one that undefined feeling of well-being for no reason at all.

Skin

The sand is not just good for your feet, it helps exfoliate your skin, rubbing away dead skin clearing out black heads and acne.  The sun’s UV can help people with psoriasis because it helps dry out the skin.

The salt and the potassium chloride in sea water helps heal dermatitis or skin rash. Finally, the sea water can help preserve the elasticity of the skin. It contains magnesium which moisturizes it. You may have noticed that people who just had their vacations at the beach have great-looking skin.

Exercise

If working in the city makes you forget your date at the gym, vacationing in a beach forces you to do your involuntary exercise which is good for you even when you don’t know it at the time. At the beach, the usual activities are running around the sand and swimming in the water.

Whatever you do, you are exercising. Swimming is a great exercise because it is low-impact and easy on the joints but still burns calories. Running is high-impact, but still a good exercise.

Sea foods

With seafood abound in most beachfront resorts, you are far more likely to eat them. They are an excellent source of omerga-3 fatty acids, sadly lacking in many American diets. These fatty acids have so many health benefits, and one of them is reducing the risk of heart disease.

Like exercise, this isn’t a guarantee. But since seafood restaurants abound at the beach, you’re far more likely to step into one there. Seafood is an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, a nutrient lacking in many Americans’ diets.

Whatever you may get in these beach vacations, they surely are good for your body, mind and spirit.
